I know little of Sarah Buttrey(14), except that she married John Briggs (sen) at York Minster on 22 Jun 1726. The IGI references say that she was born around 1705 and was of Kingston upon Hull. Donald Briggs (1971) says that the marriaqge register of the Minster describes them both as citizens of Hull. There is an IGI reference to a Sarah Buttery baptised at St. Michael, Spurriergate, York, on 26 Nov 1705, but there is no way of telling whether this was the Sarah who married John Briggs. The register of the Bowlalley Lane Chapel records the baptisms of a Mary Buttery on 11 May 1709 and a Joseph Buttery on 02 Feb 1713, so there were certainly Buttreys (or Butterys) in Hull at the time, possibly siblings of Sarah. But there is no Sarah. This may be because the Bowlalley Lane register only starts in about 1705, or it may be that she was in fact baptised at St. Michael, Spurriergate. I do not know who her parents were.
