The Hyde connection comes through Margaret Hyde(111), who married the John Tatham (110) of Lowfields near Burton in Lonsdale at Thornton-in-Lonsdale in Yorkshire on 19 Jun 1786 [IGI based on parish records, film 599997, Chippindall p.108]. All that Chippindall has to say of Margaret is that she was of Burton-in-Lonsdale. Possible Hyde generations are:

Tentative Hyde generations

Generation Hyde ancestor Spouse Date and place of marriage
P Margaret Hyde(111) (1758?-?) John Tatham(110) (1758-?) 19 Jun 1786 at Thornton-in-Lonsdale
N Richard Hyde(nnn) (?-?) Elizabeth Farthwaite(nnn) (1716?-?) 26 Jan 1754 at Thornton-in-Lonsdale.

The IGI has a baptism of a Margarett Hyde, daughter of Rich. Hyde, at Thornton-in- Lonsdale on 12 Feb 1758 [based on parish records batch P005421, 1576-1812, film 844813, which is a film of the records which were transcribed by Col. W. H. Chippindall and published by the Yorkshire Parish Records Society]. There is nothing to say that this is the correct Margaret, but if it is, then she was baptised the same year as her husband John Tatham.

A Richard Hide married Elizabeth Farthwaite at Thornton-in-Lonsdale on 26 Jan 1754 [IGI based on parish records, film 599997 item 2, the Chippindall transcription]. An Elizabeth Farthwait was baptised at Cawood, Yorkshire, on 05 Jan 1716 [IGI based on parish records]. The father was Robert Farthwait. But this is quite early for someone married in 1754, when she would have been 38.

Based on parish records, the IGI contains the baptism of Michael Hyde, on 23 Feb 1755, at Thornton-in-Lonsdale, father Richard Hyde, and no others besides Margaret. Just possibly, therefore, only having two children was related to Elizabeth Farthwaite being relatively old when she married. Anyway, I hope putting these speculations up may provoke some input from someone who knows more about the Hyde family.
